To become a Notary Public in the State of Ohio, you must complete the following.
1. Obtain a BCI background check, which will include fingerprints. The code used for the background check is: 147.22.

2. Within 6 months of obtaining the background check, complete the 3 hour training class AND pass the test.
3. Apply to become an Attorney Notary Public via the Ohio Secretary of State Website. www.sos.state.oh.us. You will need to upload your Certificate from the notary class, your background check certificate and pay a $15.00 application fee.
4. The Sec. of State will process your application and, if approved will issue your commission directly to you.
